1. About the service
Cosparty is a cosplay sourcing concierge. When you place an order, you are instructing us to purchase a Taobao listing on your behalf, arrange a quality check in China, and ship it to you internationally. We act as your buying agent for that transaction. We are not the manufacturer or the seller of the items, and we do not operate Taobao. Taobao is a third-party marketplace operated by Alibaba Group; the goods are made and listed by independent sellers on that marketplace.
2. Placing an order and acceptance
You can start an order by pasting a Taobao link, uploading an image, or searching by keyword. The price and details shown are an invitation to order, not a binding offer by us. A contract forms only when we accept your order and begin sourcing.
We may decline or cancel an order, in whole or in part, including where:
- the listing is unavailable, out of stock, or withdrawn by the seller;
- there is an obvious pricing, description, or currency error in the listing or on our site;
- the item is a prohibited or restricted item (see Section 6), or cannot be shipped to your destination;
- we reasonably suspect fraud, a payment problem, or a breach of these Terms.
If we cancel before sourcing has begun, we will refund any amount you have paid for that order.
3. Pricing and fees
We show the full, all-in price before you check out. It is made up of three parts:
- the item price (the seller’s Taobao price, converted to USD);
- a flat 15% service fee, which covers ordering, seller communication in Chinese, and the quality check in China;
- flat shipping by size — Small $15, Medium $20, Large $25, Oversized $50+.
The number you see at checkout is the number you pay to us. All prices are in US dollars. Our price does not include any import duties, VAT, customs processing charges, or other taxes levied by your country — those are your responsibility and are payable directly to the carrier or customs authority (see Section 9 and Shipping & Returns). We may update prices and fees at any time, but changes never affect an order we have already accepted.
4. Payment
You pay by card at checkout. Checkout and payment are processed by Shopify and its payment partners (which may include Shop Pay, PayPal, and Apple Pay). There is no wallet to top up and no separate second payment for shipping — shipping is already included in the all-in price. We do not store your full card number; card data is handled by the payment processor. See our Privacy Policy for details.
5. Sourcing, quality check, and fulfilment
Once we accept your order, we purchase the item from the Taobao seller on your behalf and handle all Chinese-side communication (including sizing questions and colour confirmations). The item is delivered to our inspection point in China, where we carry out a quality check before it ships internationally — looking for the wrong item, wrong colour, visible damage, or missing pieces. If the quality check catches a problem, we resolve it with the seller before shipping (see Section 7).
We then ship the order door-to-door with tracking. Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from order confirmation. Many cosplay listings are made to order — the seller cuts and sews after purchase — which adds production time before anything ships. Chinese public holidays (around Chinese New Year and Golden Week) can also slow production and logistics. These timelines are good-faith estimates, not guarantees.
6. Prohibited and restricted items
We source ordinary cosplay costumes, wigs, accessories, and props. We will not source, and may decline or cancel any order for, items that are illegal, unsafe, or non-shippable, including:
- counterfeit currency, documents, or goods that infringe trademarks;
- weapons and ammunition, including realistic firearms and firearm parts;
- controlled or concealed knives and other controlled bladed weapons;
- explosives, fireworks, and flammable or otherwise hazardous materials;
- drugs, prescription medicines, and related paraphernalia;
- tobacco, vaping products, and alcohol;
- adult or pornographic material;
- items restricted for international carriage — for example large quantities of powders or liquids, pressurised containers, and lithium-battery items that exceed carrier limits.
Some cosplay props (for example foam or resin weapons, or items with embedded batteries) are legal but carry shipping restrictions depending on the carrier and destination. We flag these where we can and may need to decline the international leg if no compliant route is available.
7. Cancellations, returns, and refunds
All sales are final once sourcing has begun. Because we purchase your specific item from a third-party seller on your behalf — and many items are made to order — we cannot offer change-of-mind returns after we have placed the order with the seller.
The quality check in China is the safeguard. If the inspection finds that the wrong item was sent, the colour is wrong, a piece is missing, or there is visible damage, we take that up with the seller before the order ships — arranging a correction, a replacement, or, where the seller cannot resolve it and the item has not shipped, an appropriate refund. If a genuine fault somehow gets past the quality check, contact us promptly (see the end of this page) with photos and we will work with you in good faith to make it right.
This section does not affect any non-excludable rights you may have under the mandatory consumer law of your country.
8. Third-party marketplace and quality disclaimer
Taobao is a third-party marketplace and seller quality varies. We choose sellers carefully and check reviews, but we do not manufacture the goods and cannot guarantee a seller’s workmanship beyond what our quality check can reasonably detect. Product photos on Taobao are supplied by sellers and may be idealised.
Sizing runs small. Chinese cosplay sizing is typically one to two sizes smaller than Western sizing (a Chinese XL is roughly a Western M or L). Always order by the seller’s centimetre measurements, not by letter size. We are not responsible for fit issues caused by ordering to a letter size rather than measurements.
9. Shipping, customs, and duties
We ship internationally with tracking. Once a parcel leaves China it passes through carriers and customs authorities we do not control. You are responsible for any import duties, VAT, and customs or carrier processing fees charged by your country. These are billed to you directly and are not part of the price you pay us. Rules change — for example, the US removed its low-value duty-free de minimis exemption for China-origin parcels in 2025, and the UK and EU apply VAT on imports — so check your country’s current guidance if the landed total matters to you. We are not liable for customs delays, inspections, holds, or seizures, or for delivery delays outside our reasonable control. Full detail is in our Shipping & Returns policy.
10. Intellectual property
Cosplay occupies a broadly tolerated fan-use gray area. Officially licensed cosplay products exist, and Taobao lists both licensed and unlicensed costume makers. We do not warrant that any third-party listing is officially licensed, and we make no representation about the intellectual-property status of the goods you choose to source. You are responsible for lawful, personal use of what you buy. The Cosparty name, site, and content are our property or that of PXR Ventures OÜ and may not be copied without permission.
11. Limitation of liability and indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cosparty and PXR Ventures OÜ are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses (including loss of a convention date, lost profits, or disappointment). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability for any order is capped at the amount you paid us for that order. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your unlawful use of the goods or your breach of these Terms.
12. Governing law, changes, and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia and, to the extent applicable, the European Union, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. We may update these Terms from time to time; the version in force is the one published here, and the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
